ERP, CRM and CMS: choose around your workflow
Start with the question you need answered and the task your team repeats. System names help describe scope; they do not define it for you.
Name the record the team follows
CRM focuses on customers, opportunities and follow-up. CMS organizes content and publishing. ERP may connect purchasing, inventory, operations and finance within its agreed scope.
Write an example from your business: an enquiry becomes a quote, then an order, invoice and delivered service. Identify who handles each step and where its information lives today.
Connect what needs to be shared
Decide which records cross teams and which system owns changes. Customer identifiers, order states and the meaning of payment need agreed definitions.
You do not have to replace every system. An integration or a targeted workflow improvement may fit better than a large rebuild.
Start with one clear operating cycle
Choose a cycle with responsible people and a reviewable result. Agree permissions, reporting and correction requirements.
Review it with actual users and include migration and training in the launch plan.
